Turning a Hobby into a Plan
When starting the actual artifact process of this project I knew I would need to create a brand, a plan, and a relationship with customers. Having a basic outline was easy, putting all the elements into effect was the troublesome part. Knowing this I started putting the plan into action piece by piece until I was proud of the outcome.

The first step was to identify my target audience. My bouquets would be designed for people looking for personalized gifts for occasions such as birthdays, graduations, anniversaries, or a "just because" gift. Instead of starting off too strong with far too many styles that reach no one. I could begin by focusing only on showcasing birthday bouquets and grow my clientele from there.

By getting to know my regulars, my business would spread by word of mouth of my techniques. As new customers come by, I can open my capabilities upon their requests.
Customers select the ribbon colors, wrapping paper, bouquet size, and optional decorations. Beginning with a limited collection makes it easier to calculate the supplies, time, and costs required.

I also began to develop a consistent brand identity. The colors, fonts, photographs, and packaging should work together instead of changing with every post. My social media content would include completed bouquets and behind-the-scenes photographs/videos. Showing my face or voice occasionally will also help customers feel they know the person creating their gift.
One of the most important challenges to take note of are the tips found in my research that warn new business owners about getting ahead of themselves before seeing their business actually take off. Following that advice, I first must determine which products people are interested in and which materials I regularly use. Then purchase supplies based on actual orders instead of collecting materials without a clear purpose.
I began this project asking whether my bouquets could stand out. I now understand that standing out would depend not only on what I make, but also on the meaning, planning, and experience I create around it.
